    About Dr.

Dr. Sarah Mitchell is the Founder and Director of Volunteer World Guide, bringing over 15 years of experience in international development and humanitarian work.

Before launching this platform, Sarah served as a program coordinator for UNICEF, where she managed education initiatives across East Africa. Her doctoral research at Oxford University focused on the long-term impact of volunteer programs on host communities.

Sarah's passion for ethical volunteering stems from her own transformative experience as a young volunteer in Kenya, where she witnessed both the potential and pitfalls of international service. She founded Volunteer World Guide to help aspiring volunteers make informed, ethical choices that create genuine positive impact.

When not writing or advising, Sarah mentors young professionals entering the international development sector and consults for organizations seeking to improve their volunteer programs.
